Weeds over builder grade to new sod in Cochrane
New-build yards in Cochrane often look like these did: builder grade with weeds coming through and no lawn. Two neighbours booked the work together, so one crew and one machine did both yards back to back.
The process was the same as on any of our sod jobs: weeds and organic material out, the soil prepared and fine-graded, then sod, rolled.

How we prepared and sodded both yards
- Strip. Took out the weeds and organic material with our Bobcat MT100 and hauled them away.
- Topsoil. Brought in topsoil and spread it where the builder grade needed it.
- Fine-grade. Fine-graded both yards so water runs away from the houses, meeting the walks and fences cleanly.
- Roll the base. Rolled the prepared soil so soft spots showed up before the sod went down.
- Sod. Laid sod with staggered seams, cut to the fences, deck and walks.
- Roll. Rolled both lawns for full contact with the soil, then cleaned up.
