Privacy policy

Local Lawns Landscaping Ltd. is a small, owner-run landscape contractor in Chestermere, Alberta. This page explains what personal information this website collects, what we and the services we use do with it, and how to reach us about it. We don't sell your information.

What we collect

• When you request a quote. Your name and phone number, and — depending on the form — your email, property address or postal code, the service you need, a rough size or budget, and your description of the job. The form also records the page you sent it from (including any ad-campaign or click tags from the web address you arrived on in this visit) and Meta's cookie IDs if your browser has them (or, without them, the click ID Facebook or Instagram adds to a link's web address, with the time you first arrived from that link), and our form host records your device's IP address and browser type.
• When you use the chat assistant. Everything you type in the chat, the page you're on (with the same ad tags), and your device's IP address and browser type. If you ask it to send a quote request or a callback, it passes on your name, phone number and anything else you gave it (email, address, the job), with a copy of the conversation. While the chat is open, the conversation is kept in your browser tab so it survives moving between pages; closing the tab clears it.
• When you call or email. Whatever you tell us, including any photos you email us.
• While you browse. Google Analytics, Google Ads and the Meta Pixel set cookies in your browser and record the pages you visit, how you arrived (for example, from an ad), and whether you tapped the phone number, opened the chat or sent a request.

How we use it

To call you back, measure the yard, prepare a quote, schedule and do the work, invoice you, and answer questions about your job. We may follow up if you asked us to.

We use the analytics and advertising information to see which pages and ads lead to real enquiries, to decide where to spend on advertising, and to build audiences of past visitors that our Google and Meta ads can be shown to.

Who else handles it

We don't sell, rent or trade your information. These services process it for us:

• Netlify hosts this website, receives and stores quote requests (including the ones the chat sends) and emails them to us, and runs the code behind the chat. Netlify's privacy policy.
• Jobber holds our customer records, quote requests, quotes and invoices. Requests from the website forms and the chat are added to it automatically. Jobber's privacy policy.
• Anthropic makes the AI model that writes the chat assistant's replies. Each message you send in the chat goes to Anthropic — directly or through Netlify's AI service — so a reply can be written. The chat is automated: nobody at Local Lawns sees the conversation unless it's sent to us with a quote request or a callback request. Anthropic's privacy policy.
• Google (Google Analytics and Google Ads) measures visits, and which ads lead to calls and quote requests. When you send a quote or callback request — from a form or from the chat — the email and phone number you gave — and, if you gave a postal code and your first and last name, your name — are hashed in your browser and sent to Google, along with the postal code and country, which are not hashed. Google uses them to match the request to an ad you clicked. How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
• Resend delivers this website's alert emails to us — for example an urgent callback request, or a quote request our usual systems couldn't deliver — and those emails can include the details you gave. Resend's privacy policy.
• Meta (the Meta Pixel and Meta's Conversions API) does the same for Facebook and Instagram ads. The Pixel can pick up contact details you type into a form on this site and send them to Meta hashed. When a quote or callback request is sent — from a form or from the chat — our server also sends Meta a hashed copy of your email, phone number and name, together with your IP address, browser type and Meta's own cookie IDs (or that click ID), which are not hashed. Meta's privacy policy.

Hashing turns a detail like an email address into a fixed code that isn't readable as-is. Google and Meta can match that code against the same detail already in their own accounts — which is the point of sending it.

These providers may store or process your information outside Canada, mainly in the United States, where it is subject to the laws of that country.

How long we keep it

We keep quote and job records as long as needed for warranty and tax purposes, then delete them. Requests that don't turn into a job, and chat conversations sent with a request, are kept for 24 months from when we receive them and then deleted — or sooner if you ask us to delete yours. Google and Meta keep analytics and advertising data under their own retention rules.

Your choices

• See, correct or delete what we hold. Email contact@locallawns.info. Records tied to a job we've done may have to be kept until warranty and tax requirements are met.
• Opt out of personalized ads. Google: My Ad Center. Meta: ad preferences in Accounts Center. Advertisers in the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada's program: YourAdChoices.ca.
• Block analytics and ad cookies. Google's Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on stops Google Analytics only. Blocking or clearing cookies in your browser stops the analytics and ad cookies — the site and the quote forms still work. Neither stops the hashed contact details described above from being sent when you send a request — to Google from your browser, to Meta from our server (and from the Pixel, if it picks them up). If you don't want that, call or email us instead.
• Rather an AI didn't read your message? Skip the chat and call (825) 735-7756 or email us.
