Contract terms

These terms are attached to every written quote Local Lawns issues. They're here so you know what to expect before you book. Anything specific to your project is spelled out in the quote itself.

Quotes

Quotes are provided after an on-site measure at your property in Calgary, Chestermere or the surrounding towns, and are fixed for the scope described. They're valid for 30 days.

Spring 2027 work: Local Lawns is booked out for fall 2026. For every service except fence, a quote we write in fall 2026 for a spring 2027 install keeps its quoted price for that install, and no deposit is due until spring — the 25% deposit is taken when we confirm your spring install date. If your install slips past spring because of us, the quoted price still holds. Fence quotes keep the standard 30-day validity above, because material prices move.

If the scope changes — you add work, or we find something underground that can't be worked around — we'll price the change in writing before doing it. We don't do surprise invoices. We don't run discounts, promotions or seasonal pricing, and we don't offer financing or payment plans — the quoted figure is the figure. All prices and ranges are before GST.

Deposit & payment

Local Lawns bills projects the same way:

• A 25% deposit confirms your spot in the schedule and covers materials ordering.
• Spring 2027 work (every service except fence): no deposit is due until spring — it is taken when we confirm your spring install date (see Quotes above).
• Cancellation: cancel at least 24 hours before your scheduled start and the deposit is refunded in full. Inside 24 hours the deposit is kept — materials are ordered and the crew's day is booked.
• The balance is due on completion, after the walkthrough.
• We accept e-transfer, cheque or card.
• Minimum job size is approximately $2,000 for standalone work. Smaller items — a single tree, a mulch top-up, a small rock border — are usually bundled with a larger project rather than booked on their own.

Scheduling

Start dates are confirmed once the deposit is received. Landscape work in Calgary and Chestermere is weather-dependent — heavy rain, frozen ground or unsafe conditions can push a start date. We'll keep you updated and reschedule promptly. Sod installation stops by mid-October; grading and other dirt work continue until the ground freezes hard.

Site access & conditions

You're responsible for providing clear access for our equipment (our Bobcat MT100 fits through a standard 3 ft gate or an open side yard) and for marking or telling us about private lines — irrigation, low-voltage lighting, invisible dog fence, septic.

Public utilities are located through Utility Safety Partners (formerly Alberta One-Call) before we dig. We're not responsible for unmarked private lines.

What's included

Every project includes removal of the debris we generate, a final site clean-up, and a walkthrough with you. Sod projects include a simple watering schedule for the first few weeks.

Workmanship warranty

Local Lawns warrants its installation work against defects in workmanship for one year from completion. If something we built — grading, seams, edging, drainage, hardscape — fails because of how we built it, we come back and fix it at no charge.

This covers faults caused by our workmanship. It doesn't cover damage caused by you or by others after we leave, problems from inadequate care or watering, or conditions outside the scope agreed in the quote.

It's also not a promise that every future settlement or drainage change on the property is covered — soil settles and water moves for reasons beyond the work we did, and we'll tell you honestly which is which.

Watering & care

New sod and new plants need your water to establish. Watering must begin immediately after installation and follow the written care schedule we hand you at completion, adjusted for the weather and any watering restrictions in effect.

You're responsible for providing access to water and for telling us promptly if something looks wrong, so it can be dealt with while it's still small.

Because establishment depends on watering we can't control, we don't warranty sod or plant survival — but a watering problem never excuses a defect in how we built the job; that stays covered by the workmanship warranty above.

Insurance

Local Lawns Landscaping Ltd. carries WCB coverage and commercial liability insurance. Certificates are available on request.
