The back yard had been left alone long enough that the weeds were over six feet tall — not a patchy lawn, a yard that had gone completely to seed. The old fence was on its way out too. The homeowner was also having a deck built as part of the same project and wanted the ground around and underneath it finished properly, not left as bare dirt.
Neighbourhood: Creekstone, Calgary
Services performed: Sod replacement, fence installation, stepping-stone pathway with Rundle rock border
Bobcat MT100 track loader, dump trailer, auger, sod roller.
A yard that was unusable under six feet of weeds is now new sod, a solid new fence, and a stepping-stone path with a clean rock border — and the ground around the new deck was finished instead of left as construction dirt.
Not at six feet of growth. By that point the weed root mass runs through the entire yard, not patches you can spot-treat or overseed around — stripping it out and rebuilding from bare ground was the only real fix.
No — the deck was built by a separate contractor as part of the same project. We handled the sod, fence, pathway, and grading the ground around and underneath it.
